to Macon and Valdosta to assist Georgia Power in power restoration efforts from the expected impact of Hurricane Irma. The storm team – made up of line crews, engineers, logistics, fleet, security and safety personnel – departed from the company’s Coast, Pine Belt and Meridian divisions on Sunday morning.

“The way the utility industry pulls together in times of crisis and works together to restore service after a major event is critical to helping people’s lives return to normal,” Vice President of Customer Services Organization Nicole Faulk said. “Our team will work safely and efficiently to restore power in Georgia, while meeting the needs of our customers at home.”

Mississippi Power is a member of the Southeastern Electric Exchange’s Mutual Assistance Program, which allows utilities affected by significant storms to receive restoration assistance from utilities that were not affected.

“Our thoughts are with every person and every family that’s been affected by Hurricane Irma,” Faulk said. “Mississippi Power’s storm-tested team is prepared to assist our sister company Georgia Power for as long as they or other SEE partners need us, and I’m proud of their commitment to respond to those in need, wherever the call comes from.”
