Southern Eye Center grand opening Thursday

While the Laurel Clinic of Southern Eye Center officially opened in June of this year, the physicians and staff will host a grand opening and ribbon-cutting event on Thursday from 4:30-7 p.m., in conjunction with a Business After Hours event with the Economic Development Authority of Jones County. This event will be open to the public.

“Our beautiful new clinic will enhance the way we serve our patients. We hope the space is not only welcoming, but that the additional clinic and surgery center will be more convenient for our patients across the Pine Belt and throughout South Mississippi,” said Dr. Jaime Jiménez. “It reflects our values and our role in the community.”

The 10,759-square-foot facility, which offers a full surgical suite, will be open for tours with the physicians and staff members. The event will also feature refreshments and giveaways, including vouchers for vision correction procedures such as a free cataract upgrade, Blade-Free Lasik, Botox, Maui Jim sunglasses, as well as other door prizes.

Southern Eye Center has a team of physicians, including Doctors Kiper Nelson, Jiménez, Cameron Griffith, Abumere Akinwale, Stan Saulny and  Joseph Childs. They offer a variety of eye procedures, including treatment for  diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, cataract removal, corneal transplants,  eyelid surgery, and vision correction procedures, including Lasik and corneal  inlays. Each physician is fellowship-trained in his area of expertise and will be seeing patients in the Laurel facility.

“Our patients’ vision and comfort is paramount in what we do at Southern Eye Center. We have built a strong reputation of highly skilled, fellowship-trained physicians who tailor treatment plans for each individual patient with care and compassion,” said Nelson. “That’s what makes our team special and different from the rest.”
