No injuries were reported, but a loaded concrete truck from Taylor Redi-Mix dug a new ditch as it slid off Township Road and overturned early Monday morning. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Howard Chapman, was reportedly OK and transported from the scene by company officials. Volunteer firefighters from Powers and Glade responded along with EMServ Ambulance, the Jones County Emergency Management Agency and the Jones County Sheriff’s Department. Glade Water also responded because of the possibility of a damaged water line. The driver reportedly told first-responders that he was run off the road by oncoming traffic. The road was closed for a short amount of time while a large Burroughs Companies wrecker got the concrete truck out of the ditch.
