Eight oak trees growing on the lawn of the Rogers Green House are now regis- tered with the Societe Des Arbres and will be known as the “Eastman Rogers Oaks.” Among one of the purposes of the organiza- tion (Society of Trees) is to preserve all species of trees that possess a living association with historical events of the area. These massive oaks were measured by members of Park Place Garden Club’s Historical Tree Committee with Pat Myers serving as chair- man. In order to be registered, a tree must meet certain qualifications to determine that it represents at least 100 years of age, and these trees range between 116 to 137 years of age.

Societe Des Arbres is now under the sponsorship the Garden Clubs of Mississip- pi, Inc. Park Place Garden club is a member of the Laurel-Jones County Council of Garden Clubs, The Garden Clubs of Missis- sippi, and the National Garden Clubs, Inc.
