WJ advances to Final Four

West Jones will meet Ridgeland on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Mississippi Coliseum following a 59-50 victory over Holmes County Central on Friday afternoon at Jackson State University.

The winner of the Lady Mustangs’ (25-3) game with Ridgeland (23-5) will play either Hattiesburg or Lafayette County for the Class 5A girls basketball state championship on Friday.

WJ led 26-23 at halftime over their opponents from Lexington and held a 16-9 third-quarter advantage  to take a commanding lead into the final quarter.

Class 2A Boys

Bay Springs 60, Ingomar 53

Kevin Grimes scored 22 points and Jacorreous Moore netted 12 as the Bulldogs advanced to the Class 2A state basketball semifinals.

Austin Sigsworth added 11 points for Bay Springs (25-3)

Bay Springs will play South Delta on Tuesday at noon at the Coliseum.
