Election Day

Qualifying is now closed for the 2019 elections. A few late filers made it to the Circuit Clerk’s Office before the 5 p.m. deadline.

• Independent Colendia Ross will challenge incumbent Circuit Clerk Concetta Brooks, a Republican.

• Donald Dale Holifield qualified for Beat 3 Supervisor.

• Trey Chinn and Ernest Hollingsworth qualified for Beat 5 Supervisor.

Primary elections are set for Aug. 6. Winners of the primary races will meet in the November election, if there is a candidate from the opposing party or an Independent in the race.

The races and candidates are:

Sheriff: Incumbent Alex Hodge, Paul Sumrall, Macon P. Davis and Joe Berlin

Chancery Clerk: Incumbent Bart Gavin

Circuit Clerk: Incumbent Concetta Brooks and Colenia Ross

Tax assessor/collector: Tina Byrd Gatlin and Michael Walker

County Attorney: Incumbent Brad Thompson

County Surveyor: Harvey Saul

Coroner: Incumbent Nancy Barnett, Burl Hall, Phyllis Pitts and Zach Rowell

Supervisor Beat 1: Incumbent Johnny A. Burnett, Richard Baker, Harlon Matthews, Toby Herrington, Barry Dunagin, Bobby Brady Jr. And Don M. Williams.

Supervisor Beat 2: Chad Boykin, Larry Dykes, Michael Phillips, Mike A. Bush, Ronnie Herrington, Ricky H. Seals, Mike Strickland and Gary D. Blackledge

Supervisor Beat 3: Incumbent Barry E. Saul, Phil Dickerson, Randy Norwood, Jessie James Maxey, Johnny Wright and Donald D. Holifield
