Jamarius Hosey ran for four touchdowns and Anson Windham ran for three as Bay Springs beat North Forrest 60-27 in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs.
The Eagles finished the season at 5-7 after keeping it close for a half and actually leading early in the third quarter. The Bulldogs (9-3) advance to take on 11-1 Pelahatchie in the second round of the playoffs next Friday night.
Hosey bulldogged his way to scoring runs of 4 and 70 yards in the first quarter, but the visitors got three first-half scoring runs from alternating quarterbacks Leon Jones and Rhyen Brisco. The second Jones TD, a 20-yarder, gave the Eagles a 21-20 lead with 1:21 left in the half.
But Bay Springs quarterback Adrian Cole connected with Derrien Lee from 33 yards with 30 seconds left to get the lead back for the home team going into the half. The duo connected from 36 yards in the first 30 seconds of the second quarter, too.
The Eagles led briefly, 27-26, after Brisco found Eric Robinson from 36 yards to finish off the opening drive of the second half.
Hosey answered with an 18-yard rumble, and it was all Bulldogs from there. Windham scored from 11 yards out, then in the fourth, Hosey scored on a 20-yard run and Windham scored from 44 yards and 8 yards.
