West Jones exploded for four touchdowns in the second quarter and overwhelmed Natchez 35-0.

It was the third shutout of the year for the Mustangs, who are riding a five-game winning streak as they prepare for a home region matchup with North Pike on Friday night.

Sophomore quarterback Alan Follis completed 4 of 4 passes for 42 yards and two touchdowns — including one to standout defensive lineman Byron Young, an Alabama commit who caught a 2-yard TD pass with 6 minutes, 35 seconds left in the first quarter.

Walker Thompson, an Ole Miss commit, kicked the first of his five extra point kicks and found himself busy in the second quarter.

Londarrius McRunnels scored on runs of 1 and 2 yards and Jalen Graham caught a 25-yard TD pass from Follis as West Jones scored 21 points in 1 minute, 49 seconds to take a 28-0 lead early in the second quarter.

The Mustangs capped the scoring with 3:29 to play when Antonie Kirk scored on a 9-yard wide receiver reverse.

McRunnels led the defense with 10 tackles, while Jon Micah Coleman had three tackles for loss and two sacks, while Young had two tackles for loss. Kirk had two interceptions and Colin Maggard had an interception.

On Friday, the Mustangs will host a North Pike team the is coming off its best performance of the season. 

Quarterback Alijah Martin threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns in the 60-18 thumping of winless Wingfield. Martin also ran eight times for 156 yards and three TDs.

Martin has thrown for 1,235 yards and 12 touchdowns and has run for 919 yards — a 12.8-yards-per-carry average — and 13 touchdowns.

Stringer 30, Resurrection Catholic 0

Caleb Dyess threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns as the Red Devils (6-1) won their sixth straight game.

The victory allowed the Red Devils to keep pace with Lumberton in Region 4-1A.

Keyshaun Dease caught three passes for 58 yards and two touchdowns, while Connor Hicks caught three passes for 79 yards and one touchdown.

R.J. Holifield had a 2-yard TD run on his only carry of the night. Standout running back Anthony Thomas was held to 53 yards on 12 carries.

The Red Devils led 13-0 at the end of the first quarter and extended the lead to 23-0 at halftime.

Stringer is scheduled to host Mount Olive (1-6) on Friday night.

Collins 34, Heidelberg 6

Collins won its fourth straight game and held Heidelberg to one fourth-quarter touchdown in cruising to a victory.

Hershey McLaurin completed 16 of 21 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns, including one to Markel McLaurin.

Collins is scheduled to play at North Forrest next, while Heidelberg is scheduled to play at Enterprise.
