The Tornados scored three touchdowns in less than two minutes at the end of the first half to advance in the 5A playoffs and send Wayne County home with a 37-6 whipping.

Michael Terrell scored on a 3-yard run with 4:20 left in the first quarter after a snap went over the WC punter’s head and he couldn’t grip the muddy ball. That set up Laurel at the War Eagles’ 20-yard line.
Late in the second quarter, Laurel lineman Lauris Evans snagged an interception to set up a Perryman 8-yard TD with 2:26 left. After forcing another punt, Laurel got the ball back at midfield and Xavier Evans threw a 50-yard strike to Sinclair Ulmer for another score.
On the next play, Brandon Gavin picked off a WC pass and returned it to the 12. Perryman scored from there on the next play. William Mora kicked his third extra point to give the Tornadoes a 37-0 lead going into the locker room.
Shadamien Williamson scored from 6 yards out midway through the third quarter for the War Eagles’ only score of the night. They finish the season 7-5.
